  This is a tough topic to talk about because of what happened with Werner Ladder Company and their lawyers. If you click around on the site, you'll see that I had a real issue with them.

  I did a lot of research and had solid proof to back up my claim. Even the guy who designed the ladder foot for Werner, and then later worked as an expert for them, agreed to testify on their side. That's a big deal.

  Here's the thing: the original Shu-Lok foot was designed for aluminum ladders, not fiberglass ones. But Werner put it on fiberglass ladders too, with a different shape. That's where my problem started. It might not seem like a big deal on the ground, but 18 feet up, it's dangerous.

Werner tried to manipulate a fix it by adding a zig-zag pattern to the fiberglass ladder foot. But that just made it worse. It could suddenly release, and that's really bad news when you're up high on a ladder. They manipulated the patent without discussing it with the original designer or even change their patent. 

  My goal is simple: to get Werner to change their fiberglass ladder design to make it safer. It's about looking out for others and making sure nobody else gets hurt.

 There's a practice in place called Corporate Social Responsibility, which says companies should care about safety. But when Werner found out who my expert witness was, they filed for bankruptcy. They knew if I won, they'd have to recall all their fiberglass ladders. They couldn't take that risk.

  It's tough, but we need to keep pushing for change and making sure companies do the right thing.
